Gabbeh carpets are classic and modern at the same time

The real Gabbeh carpet is a classic one Persian, but its appearance looks different from the other types. This is due, among other things, to the fact that it is more coarsely crafted and partly has modern-looking patterns. Thanks to its excellent quality, it is an enrichment for any living space that sets accents and provides a good feeling of walking.

Abstract motifs dominate the Gabbeh

The Gabbeh is made by nomadic tribes who live in the province of Fars, in the south of Iran. Even if their structure is not quite as fine as a real Nain or Tabriz carpet. A Gabbeh gives a distinctive living quality to every home. This is primarily thanks to the special wool quality made from real virgin wool, which makes each example the perfect carpet for a homely ambience. Visually, the Gabbeh impresses with its highly abstract animal motifs, which are sometimes reminiscent of simple stick figures. This creates a distinctive touch, but also ensures that a Gabbeh rug is very easy to identify. In addition to these abstract motifs, there are also heavily checkered patterns, with a real variety of colors being the focus here too. This form of Persian carpet can be easily distinguished from the others.

Simple production and made from virgin or sheep's wool

Like Kelim or Berber, a traditional Gabbeh carpet was originally hand-woven by nomads. The good piece was used, for example, as a seat pad. Typical of this type of carpet are large areas of bright colors dominated by geometric patterns. The production was actually made using a complex technique from real sheep or goat wool, which was later individually dyed using only natural dyes. With its palette of colors, the Gabbeh conquered living rooms and bedrooms in this country as early as the 1990s, which continues to this day. They fit perfectly into modern rooms with white or light solid wood furniture. This is how the color intensity really comes into its own. If you want to buy a model that is hand-woven from virgin wool at a reasonable price, you will find a lot to choose from, including when it comes to shapes. The classic shape is the rectangular shape, which makes an excellent base for the couch area in the living room. A Gabbeh is also ideal for a simple bedroom, as it makes stepping out of bed very soft and the bright variety of colors puts you in a good mood.

Gabbeh carpets also have a modern design

The boom and constant demand for Gabbeh carpets have resulted in the design being greatly modernized, with few elements of the original and traditional. The design of modern carpets of this type is usually limited to large, colorful areas that are reminiscent of the ethnic style and adapt very well to this furnishing feature. Dominant colors are a strong red or a magnificent blue. It is clear that the carpets have a very invigorating effect on any living space and immediately stand out. Thanks to the elaborate and partly abstract design, Gabbeh carpets have become a very popular and functional home accessory.
